1. Do you do weddings?

Of course. Contact us and we'll work personally with you to customize the perfect entertainment for this important day!

2. Do Jazz Capital Artists take requests?

Requests are always welcomed in advance by our artists. Each of our artists is steeped in the favorites of the American songbook.

3. Do you only book Jazz artists?

No. We also feature bands specializing in soul, funk, boogaloo, Brazilian jazz, Brazilian dance music, salsa, and swing. Please contact us for more information!

4. Can your jazz artists play quietly? Can your jazz artists pick up the pace and get everyone dancing?

Yes, and Yes. True jazz musicians have the ability to fit into ANY situation, no matter how sensitive. A great jazz band will blend into the event quietly, sustaining an atmosphere of fun and jubilation, or it can swing out and get everyone in the room tapping their feet and dancing. A perfect blend of taste, elegance, swing, balance, and warmth, our artists don't just perform, they accompany. Which means they won't get in the way during the cocktail hour, and they will have everyone dancing when the time is right. From polite volume to dance volume, each of our artists cover it all.

5. Isn't Jazz just instrumental music?

No! Some of the greatest jazz musicians are vocalists! Check out our vocalists on our roster page.

6. What is the difference between Jazz and Swing?

Swing is a style of Jazz, made popular by the big bands of the early 1900's.

7. Where are the musicians from?

Most of our musicians are based in the Jazz Capital of the World - New York City, but we have groups in other cities as well including Washington, DC, Atlanta, and Boston. We subcontract groups in other countries as well.

8. Do you travel?

Yes. We are contracted to deliver bands all over the world. Contact us to let us know where you want us to go!

9. The video and audio samples won't work on my computer. Do you have a cd or videotape you can send me?

Go to the Contact Us page and fill out your mailing address. We'll be happy to send out a cd and/or video the next business day. Call us instead at 718-941-2295 and it could be sooner!

10. Can I choose an artist but with a different-sized band?

Ensembles are usually custom-sized to the specifications of the event. Bands can be downsized, or pieces can be added, to fit most any budget. Contact us to start the process!

11. I want quiet, background music for the cocktail hour, and a dance band for the reception. Do         I need to hire two different bands?

Not necessarily. Call us and let us know the number of guests, and your ideas for types of music. We'll guide you through the decision process. One band is usually enough.

12. Do you offer a special discount for not-for-profit events?

Yes. Please contact us for more information.

13. Do you have song lists?

Each artist can provide a repertoire list on request. Our artists are steeped in the traditions of American Jazz, Blues, and Standards, as well as Bossa Nova, Brazilian standards, Soul, and Funk classics.

14. Does Jazz Capital feature any other kinds of music?

In addition to the musicians featured on our artist page, we have an extended family of musicians and bands that we call on to fulfill requests for salsa, forro, acid jazz, hip-hop, funk, and other styles.
